Content and Mashup Storage |
 |
- Video, Audio and Image files are uploaded by users to the Content Library. These are stored on Content Servers and linked in the Library Database. During play, the content files are read off the file server and can be cached close to the organization infrastructure edge.
- Video content can also be stored at the Silverlight Streaming Services server. (See more on this later).
- Presentation slides (PPT, DOC, PDF) are converted to and stored XPS documents.
- Links (URLS) to Video, Audio and Image content are stored in the Library Database. During play, these contents are read off the original locations (such as shared websites). Caching technology optimizes repeated access of this data.
- Text captions and feedback forms are stored within the Library Database and are rendered from the Library Database server.
- Mashups are stored as "meta-information" in the Library Database. During Mashup play, this meta-information is first loaded, and governs the loading of the constituent contents from their respective locations.

Microsoft Silverlight Streaming Services |
 |
Microsoft Silverlight Streaming Services allows users to store upto 10GB of video content. The service is in beta and is free of charge at this time.
Ultra Mashup Studio and Player can synchronize with the videos stored on the service.

Content Access Restrictions |
 |
Contents and Mashups stored in the Content Library can be accessed by users based on access permissions as configured in the containing solution. At a minimum, users mark their Mashups and content as either “Public” or “Private”. Private content is available to the author only, whereas public content is available to other users based on access permissions.
An example (ultralearn.com) allows Public content in the library to be available to all users belonging to an organization, but not to the world at large.

Content Management and Search within Mashups |
 |
For each Mashup, the author can specify title, description, keywords and category. This information helps associate the Mashups to relevant search options. Users can then navigate to a Mashup via browsing in cateogries or via searching over titles, descriptions and keywords (tag cloud).
The search feature also allows searching within Mashups, that is, keywords are matched not only to titles and descriptions, but also to the properties of each video/audio/image containined within the Mashup, and also to the chapter and marker labels used in the Mashup.
