The ability to know a viewer’s behavior while watching a presentation can have many significant advantages, such as:
- In eLearning situations it can be used to gauge a learner's attention span, and even the effectiveness of the Training (Mashup)
- Information can allude to the popularity of a content. If most viewers do not watch a Mashup completely, it may indicate something about the Mashup.
- In cases where a rich media advertisement is embedded into the Mashup, tracking can be used for billing purposes
- Tracking information can be combined with qualitative comments, ratings and satisfaction feedback (via forms) to truly gauge the popularity, complexity, effectiveness, and other attributes of a Mashup
- Many systems track “completion” of a video based on if the slider position reached the end point. They are unable to verify if the user simply dragged the slider to that position
